Several board seats have opened up for 2018. The November board of directors meeting nominated and approved board nominees for the coming year. 


New Board Nominations:

 Russ von Ohlhausen

Russ von Ohlhausen is an ontological researcher, writer, lecturer and astrologer; his work reflects a lifetime of study of science, religions, myths, metaphysics & most importantly – nature – and what they reveal about consciousness & human behavior.  Russ is a co-founding member of the Astrological Society of Austin in 2005 & its past Vice President; he has taught on metaphysics & science at Kepler College, serving as interim directing advisor for Kepler Research Institute, in Seattle, WA., written and taught with Astrology Hub, and NCGR, and lectured at various esoteric organizations.  Russ will be speaking at the 28th IVC Conference in India in January, and at UAC’18 in Chicago in May.
A student of Buddhist, Jainist, & Hermetic philosophy, Russ has travelled extensively in South East Asia, Tibet, Nepal and Cambodia. In former ‘lives’ he studied history, science and psychology at Texas A&M University-Commerce; served in the U.S. Navy; was an advisor for various orphanages & youth organizations in Nepal & Tibet. Currently he is creating a natural ‘sustainable community space and spiritual center’ at Lotus Bend Sanctuary in south Austin, Texas. In 2005, Russ founded a non-profit organization, which has since evolved into The Shift Foundation, dedicated to the reintegration of ancient ritual reverence with new models of spirituality in a modern world, which currently brings people together and introduces them to a number of cultural ceremonial and healing modalities.
Today, Russell is focused on creating tools and resources to help reintegrate the ancient wisdoms with modern science and reviving the path to holistic spiritual living. He is currently working with transpersonal healing therapies within both the standard scientific and non-standard meta-science realms, using astro-psychology, entheogenic guidance, and sound-light healing techniques to explore consciousness, at ritesofthesun.com. His ground-breaking work in cosmological mechanics, and astrological & mathematical research, Celestia Mathematica, is currently being taught by other astrological schools as a foundational theory of the governing structure behind astrological knowledge. He is also the creator of Zodiac Faces: Planetary Physiognomy and The Holy Myth: The Bible as Astrological Treatise, and the ARC-Database Initiative (Astrological Research Collaborative). 

  Andi Jones

Andi has been practicing traditional western astrology since 2016.  With a primary focus on using astrology as a spiritual practice, Andi uses the language of astrology to help others discover their own unique path.  This includes resolving karma through greater self-understanding, mantra practice,  yoga, and physical detoxification practices.  Andi is passionate about astrology and brings a variety of technical skills to the ASA board that will help to expand the organization within and beyond the astrology community in the upcoming year.

 Audra Soler

Audra Faith Soler moved from a border town in south Texas to Austin nineteen years ago after receiving her bachelor’s of Arts in Speech Communications. As a single parent in 1998 she held a lucrative and successful sales position in technology sales at Dell Computers. Passionate about giving back to her community she decided in 2004 to teach in the Austin area public schools as a Bilingual elementary teacher and did so for over eleven years. She gained insights as an educator on how the mind learns. She learned many techniques in facilitating a dual language classroom teaching two languages. However her yearning to give back to women through empowerment led her to leave teaching and begin a startup company in gut health and gained social media promotion sales. She started her gut health business in 2014 promoting for Plexus a network marketing company and has had huge success using Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Through her success she grew her business to over 387 subscribers and still receives residuals today.  Her direction changed In 2016 when shehad a few Tarot card readings that led her to a Numerologist. This is when she began her studies both in Numerology, Astrology and the Tarot. Today she is an Intuitive Consultant who uses Western Astrology, Numerology, Tarot and over 48 years of life experiences in her work with clients. She has been on the metaphysical path since 1974 when her late Grandmother took her to see healers known as “Curanderas” in Mexico. Through her dual language, social media and strong promoting skills she will be able to assist the Austin Astrological Society promote awareness and announcements in hopes to grow more memberships.

 Shannon Gill-Jones

Shannon Gill-Jones is an certified Evolutionary Astrologer, Jungian Life Coach, founder of “Rhythm Sanctuary”, an ecstatic dance community in Colorado and Texas, facilitator of women’s spiritual  retreats and events, and most recently working as the Coordinating Director for Lotus Bend Sanctuary, a spiritual retreat center in Austin, Texas.
She received her degree in Contemplative Psychology with an emphasis in Expressive Arts and Healing from Naropa Buddhist University in Boulder CO, followed by a professional certification as a Jungian Life Coach from the Archetypal Academy, and most recently completed Maurice Fernandez’s professional Evolutionary Astrology  Course.
Shannon is also the co-founder of the non-profit organization “The Shift Foundation”, currently serves on the board of the ASA (Astrological Society of Austin) and has a private practice in Austin, Tx where she is passionate about empowering people to find alignment with their Soul’s Contract and becoming an active participant in our current shifting paradigm.

 Courtney Nyhius

Courtney has studied with Maurice Fernandez.
